The main assumption of this blog is that history operates in 500 year cycles. This was an idea of the ancient Chinese and it is confirmed by the orbit of the 10 known planets. Before Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto were discovered in the Eighteenth, Nineteenth, and Twentieth centuries respectively, the outer planet was Saturn and the 20 year cycle of Jupiter and Saturn represents the longest cycle known according to the planets.

Once every 500 years the 10 planets are the closest together. That is to say that a planetary gap minimum occurs once every 500 years,

A Planetary Minima – 1485

Looking at the last 500 years, a minimum was reached on 12/6/1485 and 11/16/1982. This minimum is mostly determined by the conjunctions of the three outer planets since the longest period of the previously outer planet (Saturn) is only 30 years. So this minimum occurs within the time frame of Neptune conjunct Pluto, Uranus conjunct Pluto, and Uranus conjunct Neptune.

A Planetary Minima – 1982

These 500 year periods can be referred to by the names — note Western orientation — Roman Republic, Roman Empire, Lower Middle Ages, Upper Middle Ages, and Modernity. We are moving beyond the last 500 years which is called Modernity so the next 500 years is Post-Modernity. People are not ready for Post-Modernity and expect Hyper-Modernity (also called metastatic modernity or imperial modernity) instead. Hyper-Modernity is what we have already but everything is doubled or more. Hyper-Modernity is the type of future wished for by the Pluto Class, and they certainly have the money and power to make it happen, which we can see now all around us. Post-Modernity is what the Uranus class (and the world) needs, but they might not know it.

The timing of all the planets being closest requires conjunction of the three outer planets, and the minimum planetary angle is sandwiched between the conjunction of Neptune and Pluto, Uranus and Pluto, and Uranus and Neptune. On hindsight one can see the changing started to happen with the first of three conjunctions, which is Neptune and Pluto. The example below will show how this plays out in the previous period and the current one.

Neptune-Pluto Conjunction 1395

The Neptune-Pluto conjunction that heralded Modernity was 1396 through 1401. To make it even more interesting Uranus was opposed to that conjunction in 1390 to 1397.

What is often considered as the beginning of the Renaissance is the request by a Florence (Italy) organization to artists for a redesign of the bronze doors of the Florence Cathedral, which happened in 1401.

Uranus-Pluto Conjunction 1454

The Uranus Pluto conjunction wain 1453 through 1457, or so, depending on the orbs use. This period saw the invention of the printing press by Gutenberg. Also prominent was the downfall of the Eastern (Byzantine) Empire in 1453. This was the last remaining part of the Roman Empire, that fell (at least the Western part) a thousand years previously. As a result of the conquest of Constantinople there was a rush of talent with knowledge of ancient Greek and Roman ideas into the West, causing an explosion of knowledge.

Uranus Neptune conjunction 1478

The Uranus-Neptune conjunction was 1477 to 1481. This period saw the War of the Roses, a civil war in England between two ruling families, started during the Uranus Pluto conjunction and ending at the tail end of the Uranus-Neptune conjunction. The result is that the House of Tudor and Henry VII took control of England and set the stage for the Renaissance in England. Also by the time of this conjunction printing as becoming widespread.

Grand Trine of Three Outer Planets

The middle point of the 500 year period is indicated by the three outer planets being in a roughly grand trine formation where each outer planet is in a sign of the same elements, either earth, air fire or water. The grand trine period of the previous 500 years — before modernity — saw Genghis Kahn ravage the world of Asia and Europe. For the previous 500 years — Modernity — this grand trine saw the Enlightenment and the Birth of the United States. Around this point the Enlightenment was flowering, Uranus — the first planet beyond naked eyesight — was discovered , and there were many revolutions around the world, for example the one in North America (for more details see the recently published book The American Revolution and the Fate of the World by Richard Bell)

This only happen every 500 years, but at the midpoint of those 500 years those three planets form a rough grand tine so that each of the three outers takes turns at being at the midpoint of the other two, since that is the nature of a grand trine. There was such a phenomena at around 1770.

Neptune Pluto Conjunction 1891

For our current period the Neptune-Pluto conjunction was in the early 1890s. This period saw the development of the automobile, photography became something that everybody could use (with the Kodak box camera) and shopping stores changed a lot with Sears Roebuck (the Amazon of its day) replacing Mom-and-Pop stores. This decade was followed by the next decade which had Uranus opposite Neptune and Uranus opposite Pluto and Uranus at the midpoint of Uranus and Neptune, a decade that saw tremendous changes right on top of the tremendous changes of the last decade of the Nineteenth Century.

Uranus Pluto Conjunction 1965

The Uranus Pluto conjunction happened in the decade of the 1960’s and clearly many things changed.

Uranus Neptune Conjunction 1993

The followed Uranus Neptune conjunct was in the 1990’s (the expression was popular at the time that the Nineties were the Sixties upside down which makes sense in a literal way). This period saw the birth of the Internet culture that we see all round us today.

This is childhood’s end; we need to grow up. The civilizations of the Earth really don’t have their act together — just look at all the wars around the globe. Democracy (rule by the people) is a sham and more people are realizing this, and the gap between most people (Uranus Class) and the really wealthy (Pluto Class) is greater than every before in history. The UN reported in 2018 (it is much worse now) that 26 people own the same wealth as the bottom 50%.

We need to triage modernity since we can’t have all the items modernity has given, and we certainly can’t have all the new items that are presented to us. For example, suppose you can either have the private automobile or the private Internet but not both. Which would you choose? We need to make similar decisions regarding most of modernity’s “gifts”. The message should be clear: the 500 year party is over and it is time to clean up all the messes that we have made. Young children learn that they need to clean up their messes so why don’t we?

The Pluto Class has made more of the messes, considering that they are a small proportion of the population, and they certainly don’t want to clean up their messes. Let others do that. But others — the Uranus Class — doesn’t feel like cleaning of the messes of the Pluto Class, and so they may revolt against this. But something called “Artificial Intelligence” has come along just in time so that the Pluto Class can catch any incipient rebellion by the lesser classes and stop it just in time.

But there is another big change is is slowly appearing in terms of belief of most people.

In the early Sixteenth Century Copernicus hesitated to make public his theory of the heliocentric solar system because the Authorities declared the geocentric system was reality. He did not want to question that theory publicly. Recently we’ve seen signs on lawns saying “Trust Science”. This was the same idea that bothered Copernicus 500 year ago, and so we can see that Science has become a religion, since it was previously though that the hallmark was to question science since that is the only way to determine the truth. Obviously Science has become a religion and so we must moved beyond that for the next 500 years, or Post-Modernity.

Outer Planet Midpoint 1504

Another astrological phenomenon that marks the 500 year period is the planet Neptune at the midpoint of Uranus and Pluto. Five hundred years ago this midpoint configuration occurred in the first decade of the Sixteenth Century, The current midpoint configuration occurs this decade.

Outer Planet Midpoint 2027

Some people believe that with technology we can override the physical laws of the universe and thus we don’t have to worry about limits. This is the attitude that the more hyper the modernity the better is is.

So not only are the 500 year cycle starting; there are two more astrological cycles that are synchronous with the 500 year crisis mentioned about. The first is an 80-90 year cycle that is returning this decade, The other is the Pluto Return of the US chart, celebrated in a media that does not know astrology as the semiquincentennial, the reflection of Pluto return which is about 250 years which corresponds pretty closely to the period of Pluto.

This 80-90 year cycle that comes due this decade is what I call the Sixth Crisis of the United States, and each is bigger than the last. The First Crisis was the Starving Time and involved a few hundred people in Virginia while the Fifth Crisis was World War Two and involved millions of people around the world. What will the Sixth Crisis be like?

With these three cycles coming to a climax is the same decade we know that historical events will happen, probably larger than we can image, but is is anybody’s guess as to what exactly will happen.
